Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started with CodeCrew?

After subscribing, you'll receive an onboarding email with links to connect your Slack workspace and code repositories (GitHub/GitLab). Our team will schedule a kickoff call to understand your project needs and match you with the right developers.

How does the Slack integration work?

Install the CodeCrew app from the Slack App Directory or use the installation link we provide. The bot will introduce itself and your assigned developers. You can communicate with your squad, track progress, and manage tasks directly in Slack using commands like /codecrew status or natural language requests.

What permissions does CodeCrew need?

Slack: Read/write messages in channels where invited. In assistant mode (optional), read DMs to help draft messages and review code. Access user profiles and share files.
GitHub/GitLab: Read/write repository access for development work, webhook access for automation
All permissions are used exclusively for providing development services.

How do I add CodeCrew to a private channel?

In your Slack channel, type /invite @codecrew or click the channel details and add the CodeCrew app. The bot will only access messages in channels where it's explicitly invited. For AI assistant help in private DMs (message drafting, code review), enable assistant mode in your workspace settings.

How are my code and data protected?

We use industry-standard security: TLS encryption in transit, AES-256 at rest, OAuth tokens for repository access, and strict access controls. We never store your source code—our developers and AI agents access it only during active development. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Can I pause or cancel my subscription?

Yes, you can pause your subscription for up to 3 months or cancel anytime with 30 days' notice. We'll provide a complete code handoff and remove all repository access upon cancellation. Use /codecrew subscription in Slack or email support.

What if I'm not satisfied with the work?

We offer a satisfaction guarantee on your first sprint. If you're not impressed by the velocity and quality, we'll refund your first month. After that, we work with you to adjust the squad, change approach, or provide additional support to meet your needs.

How do sprint planning and updates work?

Your squad conducts weekly sprint planning (or custom cadence). You'll receive daily standup summaries in Slack, can review progress anytime with /codecrew sprint, and have access to your project management board. Sprints typically run 1-2 weeks.

What tech stacks does CodeCrew support?

We support modern web stacks including React, Vue, Angular, Node.js, Python (Django/Flask), Ruby on Rails, Go, Java/Spring, PHP, and mobile (React Native, Flutter). We also handle DevOps (AWS, GCP, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes) and databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis).

How is AI used in my project?

AI assists with code generation, test writing, documentation, code reviews, and repetitive tasks. However, human developers lead all architectural decisions, review all AI output, and make final calls on quality and security. You're always in control of what gets merged.

Can I scale my squad up or down?

Yes, you can adjust your squad size month-to-month. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades at your next billing cycle. Enterprise customers can add on-demand capacity during peak periods.

What about intellectual property rights?

You retain full ownership of all code, designs, and deliverables created for your project. Our developers and AI agents work on your behalf—everything belongs to you.
